OXFORD — Championship Saturday was very good to Ole Miss.
No. 7 Arizona, No. 9 Kansas State and No. 13 Wisconsin all lost in the course of 24 hours over the weekend, leaving the door open for No. 12 Ole Miss.
Five major bowl projections have Ole Miss playing in the New Year’s access bowls, replacing Kansas State. Four have the Rebels (9-3, 5-3 SEC West) in the Cotton, while a fifth has Ole Miss in the Peach.
The College Football Playoff selection committee is expected to reveal its playoff bracket at 12:30 p.m. today (ESPN). The rest of the four New Year’s bowls will be announced later in the show, likely around 1:45 p.m.
It ultimately comes down to Ole Miss and Kansas State: Arizona is likely not to be bruised too much by a woeful showing in a conference championship game, and Wisconsin lost any chance of climbing…
